The best in town

Must sees

Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art

Designed by architect Siza Vieira, the visit should not only include the Museum as well as its villa, which is a unique example of Art Déco, and a stroll in its beautiful park.

Livraria Lello

Located in the center of town, it is surely one of the most beautiful book shops in the world, dating back to 1906. It’s amazing interior architecture is unmissable!

Stock Exchange Palace

It’s a National Monument and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was built in the XIXth Century in the Neoclassical style and the Arab Room is an absolute beauty!

The St. Francis Church

Both Gothic and Baroque, it is a beautiful church and is located next to the Stock Exchange Palace.

Casa da Música

Literally called the House of Music, this amazing building is a project of Dutch architect Rem Kollhas and is definitely worth visit. This whole year of 2018 will be dedicated to the wonders of Austrian Musica. When going to an evening concert, have dinner beforehand on their restaurant on the top floor.

Where to have a drink?

Depending on the hour of day and mood, there are several options.

The Yeatman Hotel has the most beautiful view of Oporto and definitely worth having a drink on its terrace. It also has an amazing 2 Michelin Star restaurant and great Caudalie Spa.

Where to eat a delicious meal?

Mistu

Great restaurant with amazing food, recently opened downtown. Ceviche is famous already!

Flow

Beautiful building and decor and lovely food! Same owner as Mistu and he definitely knows his stuff…

Traça

In the heart of Largo São Domingos, one of the prettiest squares in town, you’ll find this small 2 storied restaurant with great charm and delicious food!

Cafeína

One of Oporto’s most emblematic restaurants, it is located in the more residential area near the sea, known as Foz. Beautifully done up, buzzy, trendy and food never disappoints. The restaurant in front belongs to the same owner and has great Sushi. Name? Terra!
Round the corner, you’ll also find their bistro Casa Vasco, which is also a great place for a fun meal or just for dropping in and having a drink…

Pisca

Looking for somewhere relaxed, with great charm and amazing Tapas? Don’t miss out on Pisca, which means Blink in Portuguese which is one of the owner’s nicknames. Poetically located where the Atlantic and the Douro meet, you’re in for a treat. If good weather, book outdoors!

Where to sleep?

Depending on budget and personal taste, there are masses of choices.

MoHouse

This is our monthly choice! Only just open, it is a stunning Bed&Breakfast in the historical part of town. An 18th century building gives way, the moment you go through the door, to beautiful interiors, with exquisite decoration. Lovely views from bedrooms…

Grande Hotel do Porto

This absolutely beautiful and historic 3 star hotel, would fool anyone into believing its a 5 star! Located in on of the buzziest streets downtown, it dates back to 1880 but was refurbished a few years ago and beautifully decorated by a very well known designer and artist called Fernando Marques de Oliveira.

The House of Sandeman – Hostel & Suites

This has only just opened doors and gives you the opportunity of spending one or several nights in a real Port Wine Cellar. You will find it on the other side of the river, where all Port Wine cellars are located, overlooking the historical center of Porto. It has 10 suites and 60 extra beds in shared bedrooms. Once there, take advantage to do some wine tasting sessions!

The Yeatman Hotel

This is a rather more expensive option but a very good one if not on a budget. Its on the other side of the river and has a really breathtaking view of Porto, not to mention their restaurant and spa, both fab.

Where to Shop?

Depending on what you’re looking for, there are 2 streets in the historical center that have all kinds of local commerce and should be walked along. One is Rua Mouzinho da Silveira, which has all kinds little shops with nationally designed products, and the other is one of the prettiest streets in town, Rua das Flores. Look out for the world famous Portuguese Jeweler Luiz Ferreira, whose beautiful shop is placed just around the corner in the Rua Trindade Coelho, 9.

Armazem

Old warehouse that sells all kinds of antiques and vintage articles. Great fun going around or just sitting on the terrace or at the bar having a drink. It faces the Customs House in Miragaia, that has quite a few exhibitions going on every once in a while, so you can just pop over for a look.

RhinoHome

This is one of the most tempting decoration shops in town!! so if you happen to roam in direction of the more residential area of Foz, our tip is that you have lunch at one of Vasco Mourão’s (very well known restaurateur in Porto) restaurants previously mentioned (Cafeína, Terra and Casa Vasco), and hop over for some pre or after lunch shopping.

Sofia Ferreira

Right opposite Rhino Home is where you will find Luiz Ferreira’s granddaughters shop, Sofia Ferreira. Following family tradition, she creates her own jewelry designs as well as other beautiful objects, such as boxes and frames.
No Where to have a drink, tem que se completado. com mais duas ou três opções. Vou ver e logo mando.
